About This Week’s Guest Michael Cobb
After success in the computer industry, Michael formed ECI Development in 1996.
This residential resort development company owns projects in Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama including 5 miles of beachfront, 4000 acres, a golf course, hotels, and residential properties.
Michael contributes professionally to matters concerning international real estate finance and development.
He serves on the board of several multinational companies, and charitable foundations, and is a past International Director for the National Association of Realtors. Michael and his wife, Carol, lived as expats, raising two daughters overseas, from 2002 through 2016.
“If you come to Latin American Culture without patience, you will get it there. If you come to Latin America with patience, you will loose it.”
His tips on becoming more culturally competent are:
- Have patience. Relax and take it easy.
- Humility in your approach to other cultures. Set your assumptions about the other culture apart.
